Learner of the month - Winners

November 2024 - Maria (completing Functional Skills)

Congratulations to Maria who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for November. Maria is a very keen and motivated learner, who very much loves to learn and wants to further her skills, knowledge and experience of using English and math. She is going from strength to strength and offers empathy and support to her peers. Maria brings a calm energy to the learning environment and is the heart of the class and a pleasure to teach.

….Maria said “I feel the class has given me great support, both from my class mates and tutor.”

October 2024 - Rebecca (completing Autumn Crafts)

Congratulations to Rebecca who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for October. Rebecca became a very valued member of the group but had to overcome some personal challenges to get there due to crippling anxiety. Rebecca is in a much better place now and one day hopes to be able to help people like her who live with crippling anxiety, show others what she achieved when she was at her lowest and what huge impacts those small steps can make. Rebecca was absolutely thrilled to have been nominated!

…..Rebecca said “I’m in such a better place now and it all started with my Autumn craft classes with you. I’m very proud of myself and for it to be noticed by others is just wonderful”

September 2024 - Alan (completing AET)

Congratulations to Alan who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for September. Alan has shown great dedication to the course and works exceptionally hard. His tutor has described Alan as one of the most engaged adult learners she has had for years.

…..Alan said  “I am really enjoying the course; it is very interesting and very different from anything I have done before. The tutor is great and very supportive”

August 2024 - Laura (attended our Family Learning Summer Bug Hunt workshop)
Congratulations to Laura who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for August. Laura attended our Summer Bug Hunt workshop in the summer with her son and they enjoyed it so much that they enrolled on to the Family Woods Adventure as well! They have both learnt so much about the woods and had a great time!

….Laura said “I can’t believe there are so many opportunities with On Course – I’d recommend others to take a look and enrol. The family learning courses are great free activities to jump at.”

July 2024 - Learner (completing ESOL Customer Service)
Congratulations to this learner who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for July. This learner completed our ESOL Customer Service course. Our tutor for this course was really pleased with their work and commented on how lovely this learner was and a delight to teach. The learner really enjoyed this course and was thankful for how kind and helpful their tutor was. They said they would definitely recommend learning with us and they are already waiting to hear about our future ESOL courses.

June 2024 - Jessica (completing Sacred Geometry Projects)
Congratulations to Jessica who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for June. Jessica completed our Sacred Geometry Projects course where she completed many inspirational pieces of work between sessions as well as in sessions. Jessica really enjoyed the class, and her talents have since been recognised as she has since been offered a role as a personal mentor where she will be able to deliver classes on creative topics for them! This is such a wonderful outcome for Jessica and we are so pleased for her.

….Jessica said "this course gave her a genuine chance to upgrade herself. It has helped with her mental health keeps her mind from wandering."

Jessica has since been offered an opportunity to exhibit her work at the Barbican Theatre and is hoping to extend this to other members of the group.

May 2024 - Diane (completing Sacred Geometry workshop)
Congratulations to Diane who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for May. She first enrolled on the course as she wanted to do something arty. Diane displayed great interest in the workshop, never shied away from taking on new tasks and took pride in all her achievements. Diane has really enjoyed the course and says it takes all her stresses away.

April 2024 - Kim (completing Bag of Numbers at Yealmpstone Farm school)
Congratulations to Kim who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for April. Kim is a parent at Yealmpstone Farm school and was very honest about the fact she didn’t like maths. As the course unfolded Kim was very engaged and attended every session and overtime she displayed so many maths skills and qualities during some tasks. In turn her confidence shot up to the point where at the end when she said she was contemplating further maths learning!

…..’I really loved the course ‘Bag of Numbers’, the tutor Noel is brilliant, he kept me engaged which is great! I now will be able to support my son with maths homework and my daughter when she starts school. I am thinking about possibly doing a longer course in maths and English to help me upskill. Thank you!’

March 2024 - Chris (studying Suicide Awareness)

Congratulations to Chris who has won our ‘Learner of the month’ for March. Chris has shown great determination and perseverance. Initially Chris doubted he would be able to pass the course and lacked confidence. Chris was able to overcome these doubts and worked hard to complete the written workbook despite his dyslexia. This was the first course Chris completed with On Course South West and has already enrolled on to the next Introduction to Counselling course.

We wish Chris all the best in his next course. 🎉🥳

February 2024 - Donna (studying Carpentry)

Congratulations to Donna who has won our 'Learner of the month' for February. Donna joined our Carpentry Improvers course and has produced a really good piece of work with some difficult procedures to a very high standard. This piece was a serving trolley with a variety of joints and techniques, some of which she worked out for herself! Since this achievement Donna has started and completed another project for home. Donna is methodical, determined and logical which are traits that are good to progress in woodwork.

...'I kept saying to Wally that my enthusiasm exceeds my abilities but Wally was brilliant and encouraged me at all times! Wally was very patient and I learned many new skills.'

January 2024 - Aimee (studying English and maths)

Congratulations to Aimee our first winner for our new 'Learner of the month' celebrations. Aimee is a positive proactive learner studying maths and English with us. Aimee attends classes every week and fully participates in activities and classroom discussions. Aimee aims to obtain her maths and English qualifications to be able to progress on to a nursing career. Aimee is a wonderful learner and sets a brilliant example for her young family.
