OCSW Secures Turing Scheme Funding to Offer Life-Changing International Experiences

OCSW is thrilled to announce it has been awarded £190,000 through the prestigious Turing Scheme to provide transformative study and work placements abroad for its students. This funding will support international opportunities between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, aligning with the scheme's goals of advancing social justice and enhancing skills. The Turing Scheme, the UK government's global programme for studying and working abroad, aims to unlock once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for personal and professional development.

OCSW's successful bid will enable 86 learners to participate in life-changing experiences across seven exciting destinations: Iceland, Tenerife, Paris, Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Finland. "We are delighted to offer Plymouth students this incredible opportunity to broaden their horizons and develop crucial skills for their future careers," said Sally Cresswell, Cabinet Member for Education, Skills and Apprenticeships. "The Turing Scheme funding allows us to prioritise inclusivity, ensuring that students from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special educational needs can access these transformative experiences."

Key highlights of OCSW's Turing Scheme project include:

  • 77% of placements reserved for students from disadvantaged backgrounds

  • 69% of spaces allocated to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

  • Diverse range of destinations offering unique cultural and educational experiences

  • Tailored support to ensure accessibility for all participants

Students interested in this extraordinary opportunity to study or work abroad should contact On Course South West for more details on eligibility and how to apply. The Turing Scheme is revolutionising access to international education, and OCSW is proud to play a part in creating a more globally-minded and skilled workforce for the future.
